Bronx Bombers 2020 Season Preview

The Bronx Bombers have a great team built for the 2020 season. Their roster is so deep there is no room for good players. Many people think the Yankees will open up the season differently.

My Starting Lineup Predictions

I predict the batting order to open the season will look like the following:

DJ Lemahieu 2B

Aaron Judge RF

Gleyber Torres SS

Giancarlo Stanton LF

Gary Sanchez C

Luke Voit 1B

Miguel Andujar DH

Gio Urshela 3B

Brett Gardner CF

I think the starting rotation will look like this:

Gerrit Cole

Masahiro Tanaka

J.A. Happ

Jordan Montgomery

I believe there will be a battle for the fifth spot between Deivi Garcia, Jonathan Loaisiga, and Michael King. I think the winner will be Deivi Garcia because last year he was a really talented prospect.

How Good Will They Really Be?

The Bombers will be amazing. Many people thought they would win it all last year, but I believe this year is the year. Last year they did not have the starting pitching. While their pitching was not horrible, it was not great. Even with Luis Severino out again (Tommy John Surgery) that won’t hurt the rotation. Severino missed most of last year and the team was still above average. In addition, to boost the rotation the bombers signed Gerrit Cole, an all-star pitcher. Last year the Yankees also had many injures. This season, with everyone healthy, I predict a championship.

The Extreme League

The XFl

The Extreme League just launched with its first games on Saturday and Sunday. The season started with DC and Seattle playing each other.

What is the Extreme League?

The Extreme League is a football league that runs from mid February to the end of April. The Extreme League includes some players that used to play our traditional football league like Andre Williams, Eli Rogers, and Landry Jones. It also includes former college stars like Conner Cook and Cardale Jones.

How is the XFL different than our traditional league?

There are some different rules. There are only 8 teams in the league. Also the season is 10 weeks. On kickoffs the players start five yards apart from the other team. Then once the receiving team touches the ball, all players can move. After touchdowns there is no extra point kick. Instead, you have the option to run a 1 point play from the 2 yard line, a 2 point play from the 5 yard line, or a 3 point play from the 10 yard line. To make a catch you need possession of the ball and to only get one foot down within bounds instead of 2. Also you can have 2 forward passes before the line of scrimmage. Each team only gets 2 timeouts per half. There is a comeback period where the clock stops until the ball is spotted; this is within the last 2 minutes of each half. There is a 25 second play clock. On punts the punting team can’t go past the line of scrimmage until the ball is kicked. Also, if a punt goes out of bounds inside the 20 or goes into the end zone, it will be called for a major touch back that is brought out to the 35. Overtime is like a shootout. In overtime there is 5 one-play possessions for each team; these plays are run from the opponents’ 5 yard line. For a successful conversion, the team that scored gets 2 points. If it is still tied at the end of five plays or rounds for each team then there is a single round or one play for each team. There are no ties. Finally, there is a 10 minute half time.

How is the league set up?

The Extreme League is split into 2 divisions the East and the West. The teams in the East are D.C, St. Louis, New York, and Tampa Bay. The teams in the West are Seattle, Los Angles, Houston, and Dallas. In the playoffs the top 2 teams in the East play the winner and earns a spot in the championship. The top 2 teams in the West play and the team that comes out on top is in the championship. So, the winners play in the championship and the winner is champion.

I think it is good to have some new rules which will not only speed up the game, but it will make the game more interesting. I believe the top team in the East will be New York. I predict the best team in the West will be Houston. Who do you think will be the best.

Big Game Analysis

What a game from both teams. What a comeback from the Chiefs’ high flying offense.

Why the Chiefs Won

Even though the Chiefs got off to a slow start, they still found a way to comeback. The Chiefs became the first team in history to be able to come back from a double-digit deficit in 3 straight postseason games and win the Big Game. The Chiefs had the game close; at the half it was tied at 10. Going into the fourth quarter, the 49ers had a lead of 20 – 10. The Chiefs then stopped the Niners on defense and got the ball back. Then they scored on a 1 yard touchdown pass. On defense, they stopped them again. This time they scored on a 5 yard pass. This score put the Chiefs up by a score of 24 – 20. Their defense stood strong, once again stopping the Niners. The last scoring play was a 38 yard rush. Finally, Kendall Fuller made an interception with 57 seconds that sealed the game. The Chiefs won by keeping the game close and then getting the passing game going. Patrick Mahomes was 26 for 42 for 286 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. In the running game, Damien Williams had 17 carries for 104 yards and 1 score. The Chiefs did everything they needed to do to win the Big Game.

Why the 49ers lost

The 49ers lost because their rushing game was completely shut down. Not a single one of their running backs had over 60 yards. The rushing game was led by Raheem Mostert who had 58 yards over 12 rushes. The Niners defense was mediocre, giving up 21 points in the last 6 and a half minutes. Their passing game was decent. Jimmy Garoppolo had 219 yards and was 20 for 31, with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. However, it was not sufficient enough to put up the amount of points they needed to.

My pick in my previous post was correct with the Chiefs winning. I agree with Patrick Mahomes taking the MVP honors. Patrick Mahomes really led the offense. Who did you think was going to win the game?

Big Game 54

The fifty fourth championship game is almost here and has two teams that fought hard to get there. The Chiefs and the 49ers.

How the Chiefs win

The Chiefs will win by getting the points on the board early. They need to have a solid passing game with Patrick Mahomes getting Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce involved. On the other side of the ball the Chiefs need to stop the rushing attack from Raheem Mostert, Matt Breida, and possibly Tevin Coleman, if he plays (he is on the injury report as questionable). Through the air the Chiefs need to have tight coverage on George Kittle and Emmanuel Sanders. Last, they need to constantly have pressure on Jimmy Garoppolo.

What the Chiefs defense needs to look for

The player the Chiefs need to look out for is the Niners fullback Kyle Juszczyk. He is a threat through the air or even with the occasional rush. The biggest problem with him is he creates giant holes for the running backs. The Chiefs need to limit the amount of big rushing plays they give up by not letting them get the holes.

How the 49ers Win

The 49ers win by getting the running game involved early, breaking loose for big gains. They need to pile up the yards, splitting the yards between backs. Once they get the points they need, their defense must come up big, stopping Patrick Mahomes and the Chief’s offense. Even if the Niners can’t get the running game going right away it is not a big deal because they have a strong defense that can keep the game close and the offense can come back at any time using any attack.

What the 49ers defense needs to look for

The 49ers defense needs to look out for the running and receiving attack of Damien Williams. Damien Williams is the running back with blazing speed. He is just as good at catching the ball too. In the regular season Damien Williams had 111 carries for 498 yards and 5 touchdowns. On the receiving end Williams had 30 receptions for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns.

My Pick

24 – 13 Chiefs. I believe the Chiefs will win because Patrick Mahomes is too overpowering. While the 49ers defense is good, Mahomes is going to find some weak spots. The Chiefs defense is going to be able to contain the 49ers’ ground game. Patrick Mahomes will throw for over 300 yards and Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce will each have over 75 receiving yards. I predict the Chiefs to win the big game 54 by a score of 24 – 13.
